RYA Start Sailing Course
Course Duration: 2 Days
Cost: €300 per person
Start Sailing is a 2 Day Introduction Course to Sailing for complete beginners. Tuition is on board a cruising yacht. This course provides a short introduction to sail cruising for novices. By the end of the course, you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.
Holders of a ´Start Yachting´ certificate can obtain a RYA Competent Crew certificate by completing a further three days or two weekends of the RYA Competent Crew course.

RYA Competent Crew Course
Course Duration: 5 Days
Cost: €650 per person
This course is for the beginners and those wishing to build on the skills that they learnt during the RYA Start Yachting course or the complete beginner. It is aimed at people who would like to become active crew rather than just passengers. It is possible to start in the evening to give the new crew a chance to settle in and find their way around the boat before setting sail the next day. The instructor will give a full safety briefing before the first passage but virtually all the course is hands on. You are the crew and without you the boat won´t be going anywhere!.
One pleasure of this course is the way that the total strangers start working together, making their yacht sail efficiently and look smart. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in daily routines on board. You should also have visited some interesting places and had an enjoyable holiday.

RYA Day Skipper Practical
Duration: 5 Days
Cost: €650 per person
The Day Skipper practical course is for aspiring skippers who have some yachting experience and basic navigation and sailing ability. You should be able to sail around a triangular course and control boat speed. If gybing is still a surprise you need more practice. Navigation can be learnt by attending a RYA Day Skipper shorebased course.
Each trainee skipper will be asked to skipper the yacht on a short passage. The instructor will be on hand to give advice and encouragement and to ensure that your destination is reached safely. The essential element is that you experience being in charge, taking credit when all goes well and being responsible when it doesn´t. The end of each day is usually spent around the chart discussing the passages and gaining from each other´s experience.

RYA Coastal Skipper Practical
Course Duration: 5 Days
Cost: €700 per person
This is an advanced skippering course for yachtsmen and women who have considerable knowledge of sailing and navigation and are usually aspiring towards an offshore yachtmaster Certificate. Most centres will expect you to have attended the Coastal Skipper/ Yachtmaster Offshore shorebased course since your instructor will not have time to teach you theory during the week. Coastal Skippers should be able to undertake more difficult passages by day and night and handle the yacht in more demanding situations.
By the end of the course you should have the knowledge, if not experience to become a Yachtmaster. The course, consists of skippered passages by each of the trainees in a whole variety of situations. It is a satisfying but intensive week.
